The Fire

April 2025

On April 14th, 2024, our historical St. James Church was ravaged by fire. The fire destroyed the roof and the interior of our church and an attached community hall known as Memorial Hall. We are very fortunate to have a sister church - St. Mary’s - which has welcomed us with opened arms. We have continued to hold regular services at St. Mary’s since the week after the fire. Our large community hall remained intact and is now back in use.

We are rebuilding and reimagining our future

The process of rebuilding is long and complex. Much has been accomplished. Much is left to do. Although the fire was devastating, we quickly realized that we had been given an extraordinary opportunity to reimagine not just the building we had lost, but to reimagine our future and our place in this community.

Reaching out to the people of Hudson and surrounding areas, we have now interviewed more than 200 people about what they would like to see in our reimagined church and grounds. The results have been spectacular and filled us with hope for the future. The enthusiastic participation we recieved was heart-warming; the views were fascinating; truly inspiring!
